How to Give Your Business Page on Facebook a ‘Face’

Facebook is constantly evolving, as we all know!

The latest development is one which should be beneficial to all businesses on Facebook.

In the past, it has only been possible to link your personal Facebook presence to your Business Facebook Page by means of telling people where you ‘work’.  The disadvantage of this from the business perspective is that it didn’t always make it clear who was behind the business page!

Facebook has now made it possible to add a featured Page Owner to a business page.

In order to do this, switch to your page and click ‘edit page’.

On the left hand side, select ‘Featured’.  You then have the option to select Featured Page Owners from the admins.

The pros of this are that your profile pic will allow fans of the business page to send queries and messages privately through Facebook, rather than posting to the wall in a public environment.  In order for this to be possible, your personal settings will need to allow ‘everyone’ to send a message.

This new feature will give your business legitimacy and credibility, which in turn builds trust.  There is a face behind the brand – ideally a smiling one!

The cons of this are that you can get more spam, and have to think a bit more about your settings if you want to keep your personal information personal.  By choosing the proper privacy settings you can still control what non-friends see.
